Ouachita Trail - Section 4 Flip Flop (2 of 2) Forest Service Road #48-Coachlight Road (off Highway 71) to Big Brushy Campground

It took a few months to get back to finish Section 4 of the OT. Last April, Rhonda and I were unable to finish it due to a weather change. She didn't get to come back to finish it with me due an injury. The above vista view was close to the end of the hike and we stopped to enjoy it. This spot will be on my hodgepodge hiking list for the OT. My hodgepodge list will include all my favorite spots. There are several spots that would be a short hike in, hang my hammock for a while, and hike back out. Next Fall, I will be revisiting my favorite parts. Ouachita Trail - Foran Gap to Big Brushy

A big weekend for Bill. He finished his Section Hike of the Ouachita Trail. We hiked the 3rd week of March and the flora was making a debut. My favorite was the Dogwood blooms. We saw them on March 24th, Palm Sunday. DAY 1: The day seems mystical with the foggy weather. It was like walking in the clouds at times. The rocks were slick. We encountered one rock scramble which required getting down on all fours for me. Our reliable shuttle driver, Sandy, was waiting for us on a muddy FS road. DAY 2: Supper at Blue Bell was delicious. I wore my Friends of the Ouachita shirt on Day 2 and I really liked it. Sandy found quartz crystals and ice cream on her adventures. Ouachita Trail - Talimena State Park to Winding Stair

It has seemed like forever since I got to return and again step foot on this section of the Ouachita Trail. Rhonda, my niece Lacey and I slackpacked this section in early 2021. Back in 2021, this section kicked my butt. I had a melt down at the Holsom Valley shelter and shortly after my meltdown we discovered there had been a trail spur blazed leading to the Talimena Drive. This saved the day. My feet felt like cinder blocks. I honestly could not have taken another step that day. We were staying at Big Cedar Cabins and the owner, Sandy, picked us up on the Talimena Drive. She is normally not a shuttle, but when I called she told us she needed some Bingo money and she could pick us up. This slackpacking trip was a first for Tama and Brandon.
