WOMBLE TRAIL IN STORY, ARKANSAS - BACKPACKING TURNED SLACKPACKING 2024

Me and four other ladies recently slackpacked the trail. We initially planned to backpack but the weather changed on us. Here’s how we slackpacked it.
Day 1 - Day before hike - car camped at Highway 27 Fishing Village. (Campsite with electric and water - $18.50/$13.50 with America the Beautiful Pass). We were all able to split the cost and stay on the same very spacious site with a view of the Ouachita River. There is not a bathhouse - but nice restrooms which were close to our site.
Day 2 - staged all vehicles at Hwy 298 (Womble) and shuttled to North Fork Lake TH. We hiked from North Fork Lake to Hwy 298. Dinner at Blue Bell and car camped at Hwy 298 TH.
Day 3 - hiked from Hwy 298 to Hwy 27 (Womble) and had shuttle take us back to vehicles at Hwy 298. We had Mexican food in Mt. Ida which is on the way to Highway 27 Fishing Village. I went to Blue Bell for Bingo and cake. We car camped at Highway 27 fishing village. After being wet all day, it was nice to have my little heater in my van.
Day 4 - staged cars at Hwy 27 TH and hiked from Hwy 27 TH to Muddy Creek (which is 1.7 bonus miles in the Ouachita trail). Shuttle picked us up at Muddy Creek and took us to our cars. We headed home.
