It made my day when Dana reached out to me for my OT logistics. Love her excitement about starting her OT Slackpacking Section Hike with her friend Kim.
Dana gave me permission to share her FB post on my blog:
Fall Break 2024
Kim & I hiked 27.23 miles and completed section 1 of the Ouachita Trail this week. It is no joke! The boulder fields are insane! The changing colors on the trees, the beauty of God’s creation, the other hikers we met, the laughter, the dog in hiking boots, Sandy & Mark from Big Cedar Cabins & Rv Park, Ronelle Mullins Baker (the one who inspired me to section hike the entire OT), a trail angel who helped us find our way off the trail on day 2, and time with one another and with God made it all worthwhile!!! I’m so thankful I have the strength and stamina to take on this kind of adventure! One section down, 9 more to go!!! Thank you, Kimmie, for being my hiking buddy!!! I love you to the mountain and back!
Here's my two cents: They were all smiles and had a fantastic hike, with hardly any complaints about the rocky terrain. After they passed Holsom Valley Shelter, I shared a story about my own tough moment there, thinking I still had three miles to go. It felt like a true miracle when I discovered a recently added trail spur that saved the day! By the next day, I was refreshed, ready to hike again—and all smiles.
Great photo with the Ouachita Trail signage. Oh those rocks! Great job ladies. Can't wait to hear about your next adventure.
The blue blazes that lead you on a journey to peace.
