OUACHITA TRAIL - 30 MILES IN 3 DAYS
Day 1 - We started at Hwy 27 to Iron Fork Creek. This hike was Bill's first on the OT and Rhonda is continuing her pursuit of finishing her Section hike of the OT. Patti and Tom from Oden, AR joined on our hike.
The fall colors slowly fade during the winter, but are pretty in their own way.
We had burgers at Blue Bell at the end of our hike and then headed to our Airbnb in Hot Springs Village. The wind was cold and we were hoping it would settle down for day 2 of hiking.
Day 2 we hiked from Ouachita Pinnacle to Hwy 7. The hike started out chilly but we had sunshine during the day that warmed things up. The wind did settle down and that was nice.
Scotty rode a challenging 15 miles on his bicycle on the scenic forest service road close to the trailhead.

Day 3 - We flip flopped and hiked from Hwy 298 to Ouachita Pinnacle. On our next trip in February, we will hike from Iron Fork Creek to Hwy 298. It was 21 degrees when we started and we stayed cold most of the day. The mouth piece for my water bladder froze and I had to thaw it out with my hand warmers (hot hands).
The only shelter Bill visited on our weekend. It was to cold for us to enjoy them.

Danny Owen a local trail angel. He was bringing water to the shelter for anyone in need.
Most of our hiking during the weekend was from Hwy 27 to Hwy 7. We are hoping when we return in February we will have better weather.
