 50 MILES IN 5 DAY ON THE OUACHITA TRAIL

We hiked around Lake Maumelle for many miles as we hiked with Patti to finish the last 50 miles of her Section hike of the OT.

The people I have met while hiking the OT has really enriched my life.  Just the energy of being around like-minded people refreshes my soul.  No matter how tired I am at the end of a day of hiking, it seems a hot shower, good round of stretching to keep Plantar Fasciitis away, a nice meal and a good night sleep is all I need.  My body is quick to tell me after 5 days of hiking it needs a ZERO day. 

Patti finished up her OT section hike on this hike - 50 miles in 5 days. Teresa and her husband, David, thru hiked OT in 2021.  I finished my section hike in February 2022.  We were fortunate again to have descent weather. 

Karen had a fun celebration ready for Patti's finish of her section hike.  Karen brought champagne, carrot cake and GF cookies.  She is lives close to the OT and provides trail magic often to hikers.

We started out each morning bundled up - but it didn't take long to warm up.
